A section of the M6 northbound has been closed after a lorry fire near Carnforth.
Emergency services were at the scene after the incident in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The M6 Northbound between Junction 35 (Carnforth) and Junction 36 (Kirkby Lonsdale) was expected to be closed until noon on Thursday.
Motorists were advised to expect delays when travelling. Diversions were in place.
A spokesperson for Carnforth Fire Station said: "At 02:49 multiple fire stations were called to a heavy goods vehicle on the M6 Northbound.
"Carnforth, Bolton Le Sands, Milnthorpe and a further two from Leyland.
"Carnforth fire station were first to arrive and started to tackle the fire with two crew members wearing breathing apparatus and two hose reels.
"Incidents on motorways involving any vehicle on fire is a challenge for crews to manage due to water supply. Crews water shuttled back and forth to the incident while the water bowser (from Leyland) was en-route.
"Crews tackled the fire for few hours to bring it under control and remained on scene until the early morning."
