A singer from Morecambe who performs with music legends Soul II Soul is celebrating after they collected a Lifetime Achievement honour at the MOBO Awards.

Natasha Bates tours with the band as a vocalist and was with them as front man Jazzie B collected the award on Wednesday night at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield.

The band also performed at the awards ceremony, which you can see on BBC1 on Friday night at 11.30pm.

Soul II Soul, founded and fronted by Jazzie B, was formed in the late 80s.

The band has won two Grammy awards and been nominated for five Brit awards.

The group is famed for their hits 'Back to Life', 'Keep on Movin' and 'Joy'.

In 2022 they, and Natasha, debuted at the Royal Albert Hall, performing tracks from their triple platinum number one album Club Classics Vol 1 and more of their greatest hits. Here they are pictured at that event.

Natasha has also released singles under the name 'Tashie Tones' and has performed with former Wet Wet Wet star Marti Pellow (see below).

Celebrating black music in the UK and internationally, the 26th MOBOS ceremony also saw special achievement prizes awarded to Sugababes and Ghetts.

Raye saw off competition to pick up the MOBO for best female and Central Cee was named best male, also receiving the song of the year prize for Sprinter, his collaboration with Dave.

Potter Payper's Real Back In Style was named album of the year and Stormzy's Mel Made Me Do It was awarded video of the year.
