TV news reporter Dave Guest to share memories of his career at Heysham event

Dave Guest

A legendary TV news reporter who has been a familiar face on screens for decades will tell his story at a special event in Heysham.

Dave Guest, former chief reporter of BBC North West Tonight, will share his memories at Heysham Library on Saturday April 27.

The night is called 'Scandals, scoops and skateboarding dogs: The life and times of a regional TV reporter'.

Dave, who is from Morecambe, has reported on a multitude of news stories since joining the BBC in 1983.

He retired from North West Tonight in 2020 after covering some of the biggest stories in the region for more than 35 years.

Dave still appears on the programme from time to time, recently reporting on the restoration work at the town's Winter Gardens theatre.

There will be refreshments and a Q&A at the event, which starts at 6.45pm.

This is a free, fundraising event by the Friends of Heysham Library, but tickets are required to ensure a seat.

All donations raised will be going to the charity of Dave's choice - St John's Hospice, who provide hospice care in North Lancashire and the South Lakes.

Tickets are available either in person from the desk at Heysham Library or online by messaging the library's Facebook page.
