Emergency services were called to Morecambe beach after a woman walking her dog was taken ill and was rescued from the tide by passers by.
A police spokesperson said they were called to Marine Road near the Midland Hotel/Aldi supermarket area at 10.10am on Saturday.
"A lady walking her dog on the beach had a medical episode," he said.
"The tide coming in rapidly meant she had to be taken to safety from the water by passing members of the public.
"She was taken to hospital for a check-up but not thought to be serious."
