Dave Chisnall beats Gabriel Clemens to reach World Darts Championship last 16

Dave Chisnall

Dave Chisnall is through to the fourth round of the PDC World Darts Championship after a dominant 4-1 win against Gabriel Clemens.

It was an impressive performance by the Morecambe man in Round 3 against a dangerous opponent who'd previously been bang in form on the Alexandra Palace stage.

But Chizzy's finishing - often his Achilles heel in big matches - this time proved the difference.

Dave capitalised on missed Clemens doubles to take the first set 3-1 with two 180s en route, in this intriguing battle of former semi-finalists.

Chisnall continued to finish clinically to whitewash 'the Giant German' in set two, hitting doubles consistently with his first dart. He then moved 3-0 ahead in sets as Clemens wildly missed a chance on double 14 to get back into the match.

The German found his form in the fourth set, taking it comfortably by 3 legs to 1 as Dave's touch on the doubles momentarily deserted him.

But Chizzy regained the initiative with tops in the first leg of the fifth set against the throw, nailed it again first-dart in the second leg, then after Clemens won the third leg, then stayed alive after Chizzy missed double 19 for the match, polished off his rival in the deciding leg with a 180 and double top.

Chizzy now moves on to face the winner of Ricky Evans vs Daryl Gurney in the last 16.
