Lancaster City play their final game of the 2023/24 campaign this weekend looking to extend their winning run to five games.

The Dolly Blues take on FC United of Manchester at Broadhurst Park on Saturday afternoon (April 27).

Chris Willcock’s men have been in fine form since the end of March, beating Guiseley, Bamber Bridge, Gainsborough Trinity and Warrington Rylands.

They sit in eighth in the NPL Premier Division, which is the highest position they can finish in, as results last weekend involving teams around them went against them, meaning their slim chances of getting into the playoffs faded away.

However, Lancaster are guaranteed a top half finish and have bettered their points tally from last season - they are on 62 points at present, four more than they accumulated overall in 2022/23.

This weekend’s game will be David Norris and Paul Jarvis’ last in professional football as they hang up their boots.

Both are set to make an appearance in Manchester and are bound to get the send off and appreciation they deserve for their years of service to Lancaster City.

As for FC United of Manchester, the highest they can finish this campaign is 13th.

FC United finished the 2022/23 season in eighth on 63 points and so, however they round off the league campaign on Saturday, it is not harsh to say that they have had a very disappointing season in comparison.

‘The Red Rebels’ have had a few impressive results, such as a comprehensive victory against playoff hopefuls Worksop Town and a win over league runners up Macclesfield, but have ultimately struggled to get a decent run going at any stage this season.

They too will be looking to end the campaign on a high and hope the next is more fruitful.

As is non league tradition, Lancaster City fans attending this game are encouraged to go in fancy dress with it being the last away match of the season.

FC United of Manchester v Lancaster City kicks off on Saturday (April 27) at 3pm at Broadhurst Park.
