Morecambe sign forward Jordy Hiwula on short term deal

Forward Jordy Hiwula has joined Morecambe Football Club on a deal until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Having trained with the Club over the last two weeks, the 29-year-old has put pen to paper to bolster the Shrimps' attacking threat.

During his time within the Manchester City youth ranks, Hiwula spent loan spells at Yeovil Town and Walsall respectively before making a permanent switch to Huddersfield Town in July 2015.

More loan spells came the forward's way during his time in Yorkshire with the likes of Wigan Athletic and Fleetwood Town until the summer of 2018 where he joined Coventry City.

Portsmouth came calling in October 2020 where the former England youth international spent the remainder of the campaign. Stints with Doncaster Rovers and Ross County followed before arriving at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium.

Hiwula has 87 goals in 327 career appearances to-date, 221 of which came in League One. A versatile player, he predominantly plays as a centre-forward but can play anywhere across the forward line.

Speaking of his move to Morecambe, Hiwula said: "I'm excited and happy now we've finally got it over the line.

"I feel this is a perfect opportunity for me to come and play the remaining games of the season, hopefully we can do something special.

"There's a really good bunch of lads here, everyone has been welcoming as well so I've enjoyed it so far.

"The fans can expect hard work, determination and an eye for goal as well, I'll always give 100% for the team."
