Big fundraising day for 'Emma's Fight For Life'

November 11, 2019

A big fundraising day will be held this Saturday (November 16) to raise money for a Morecambe mum to have life-saving treatment overseas.

Two separate events will see the local community rally around mum-of-three Emma Ellis, 45, who was given six months to live when diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer in 2018.

Emma discovered that there were treatments available in America and Prague and her family decided to set up an appeal to give her a chance to live. They need an estimated £120,000 to send her for the treatment.

On Saturday morning from 10am to 2pm, a family fun day will be held at the Globe Arena - home of Morecambe FC - with proceeds going towards Emma's Fight for Life.

Staff from organisers Wickes will attempt to sit in every one of the 2,000 seats at the stadium in a challenge to raise money for Emma.

There will also be an indoor family fun day event at the stadium's Local Choice Suite with entertainment, singers including Beyond Radio's Harri Deane, face painting, dancing, competitions, a visit from Batman and Elsa from Frozen, a mega prize raffle, cakes and an appearance by Beyond Radio’s Trevor Cooke and Greg Lambert.

In the evening, Carl Flynn Promotions will present a night of white-collar boxing at the Red Rose Community Centre on West End Road in Morecambe.

The main event will see Emma's husband Andy lace up the boxing gloves for the first time ever to fight Joe Greenwood.

Andy has been training at the community centre to prepare for the big night to raise money for his wife.

Beyond Radio's Greg Lambert will be MC for the event and there will be a prize auction and raffle with signed boots by Manchester United footballer Scott McTominay and signed gloves by boxing superstar Tyson Fury among the items.

Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets cost £25. Call Andy on 07429 401225.
