Boxers to fight in memory of Morecambe schoolgirl

January 06, 2020

Budding boxers have been invited to fight to raise money in memory of a Morecambe teenager.

A fundraising fight night will be held in tribute to Sian Waterhouse, who took her own life in 2018 aged 16 after a long battle with anxiety and depression.

The 'Shine for Sian' group was set up in her name to raise money for the Lancashire Mind mental health charity and the white collar boxing show is the latest in a series of fundraising events.

Men and women are being encouraged to register to compete at the show to be held at The Carleton in Morecambe on Saturday, March 7.

White collar boxing offers people who have never boxed before the chance to set foot in the ring.

The event is being held in conjunction with Cobra White Collar Boxing, which combines boxing and the importance of mental health.

Eight weeks of free training with fully qualified personal trainers and training plans are available for anyone taking part. Participants will need to raise a minimum of £50 for Lancashire Mind.

An induction is being held at 7pm tonight (January 6) at Coastal Boxing Club, located at the Red Rose Community Centre on West End Road in Morecambe.
