Call to join Morecambe over 60s singing group

February 10, 2020

Over 60s who love singing are welcome to come along to a special singalong in the West End of Morecambe every Tuesday afternoon.

The Seagull Cafe is a unique music for health group led by More Music musicians and numbers are growing each week.

Good company and refreshments are guaranteed, and the session is free to attend.

Since June 2019 More Music has delivered weekly sessions in a developing partnership with Bay Health and Care Partners, Bay Medical Group, Morecambe Bay University Hospitals and the Integrated Care Community.

Current research highlights the benefits of singing for our well being.

It can improve breathing and increase the feel good chemicals in the body both of which help our mental health.

Anna Daly, Seagull Cafe project manager, said: “Seagull Café is ideal for anyone who might want a bit of company, might not have many visitors or their family may not be nearby.

"Feeling isolated can creep up and effect your mood, so getting out into a social environment where you can make friends, sing and find out what else is going on in your area is a wonderful solution. Proving that in terms of our health and wellbeing, it is not always medicine or surgery that’s needed.”

Seagull Café will run every Tuesday at 2pm at More Music on Devonshire Road, Morecambe, until Tuesday February 25.
