City Council launch info hub for local food establishments

May 19, 2020

Lancaster City Council’s Food Safety Team has opened a brand new one-stop shop offering information, guidance and advice to help everyone working in the food industry through the coronavirus crisis.

With businesses needing more support than ever, the council’s food safety experts have been busy pulling together a whole host of virtual presentations as well as interviews with local food outlets such as Hodgson’s Chippy (see the council link below) covering topics relevant to how businesses are required to operate today.

Information on offer if you visit the online Food Safety Forum at, includes:

• Talking to employees about working safely and preventing the spread of coronavirus
• Distancing guidelines and checklists
• Food safety and registering your food business
• Allergen advice for food businesses and downloadable resources
• Current planning permissions for food take-aways
• Interviews with local businesses about their own Covid-19 experiences

Businesses will also find a useful Q&A section which will continue to be updated as more questions from businesses come in.

Additional questions can be e-mailed to [email protected] (put Food Forum in the subject box). All relevant questions will be answered and shared with others via the Q&A section.
