'Golden heart' in Morecambe to honour Reece Holt on first anniversary of his death

January 15, 2020

A golden heart of pebbles will pay tribute to much-loved Overton teenager Reece Holt on the first anniversary of his death.

Morecambe Pebbleart group will place golden pebbles in a heart shape in Regent Park to help remember Reece exactly one year since he passed away after a brave battle with brain cancer.

The Pebbleart team are asking for people to paint pebbles in gold and bring them along on Saturday afternoon to the West End park.

Last September a trail of 8,600 golden pebbles was placed on Morecambe promenade as part of the 'Paint the Town Gold' for Reece campaign to highlight Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Reece, 13, and his family founded the Team Reece charity to help the fight against childhood cancer.

Team Reece will also hold a raffle to mark the first anniversary of his passing to help children with cancer in Nepal.

The prize will be one week in the Team Reece holiday home at Lakeland Haven.

Money will be donated to the So the Child May Live charity that works with Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool where Reece was treated.

It will help improve the care for children with cancer at Kanti Children's Hospital in Nepal.

The bonus ball raffle costs £20 a ticket and will be drawn this Saturday (January 18).
