A new branch of St John’s Hospice Charity shops will have its official opening on Friday the 14th September at 10.30am

The shop will open on the site of the former Ladbrokes branch on Market Street on Friday 14th September. The branch will sell quality donated clothing and homeware items, with all profits going directly to funding much-needed hospice care for the people of North Lancashire and South Lakes.

The new Market Street shop will replace the former St John’s Hospice shop on Church Street in the City.  The local charity will also continue to run its successful Pound Shop on Penny Street.

St John’s Hospice runs ten charity shops in the Lancaster, Morecambe, Kendal and Garstang areas. Three of these shops specialise in selling donated furniture and the charity is currently appealing for good quality furniture for these shops.

Profits from all ten shops go directly to St John’s Hospice, based in Slyne, Lancaster. The Hospice provides free palliative care services for people with life-shortening conditions in North Lancashire and South Lakes, both at the Hospice itself and in the community.  The Hospice has been supporting the local population every hour of every day since 1986.

Catherine Butterworth from St John’s Hospice says: “We are delighted to have secured this fantastic new location in Lancaster.  It’s a prominent spot that we think will be convenient to our regular customers and also help us attract some new passers-by who have perhaps never shopped with us before.

“We are looking forward to offering some really interesting and high quality items for sale, whether that’s clothing, homeware or some other unexpected gems.

“We are extremely grateful to the generous local people that donate their pre-loved items to us, enabling us to stock our shops.   Thanks to them our shops are able to raise more than £300,000 per year for St John’s Hospice, helping our nurses to provide care at the hospice and in the community every day of the year.”
