Lancaster Castle welcomes Christmas market

Lancaster Castle will host a Christmas market this weekend - its first event since reopening to the public.

'Christmas at the Castle' will be held this Saturday (December 14) and Sunday (December 15) from 10.30am to 5pm.

The market will be the first event since the historic castle was refurbished and reopened in November.

The event is free and includes 40 stalls from local and regional artisans and makers.

Handmade gifts and jewellery, wood crafts, aromatic candles, natural beauty products, photographic art and frames, artisan cheeses, chutneys and relishes, locally baked pies, traditional fudges and sweets, festive branded books, rare fine wines and specialist liqueurs and spirits will be on sale.

A wide selection of hot and cold food stalls will also be open, including handmade cupcakes and mellow marshmallows, hog roast, artisan coffee, breads and bakes, crepes and waffles.

Festive music will be playing all day, including sets by bell-ringers, Victorian carol-singers, brass bands, school bands, jazz pianists and a carnival street bands.
