Lifeboat called to assist paddle boarder

May 11, 2020

On Saturday 9th May 2020 Morecambe RNLI were called to assist after reports of a paddle boarder who had began to struggle on an ebbing tide and was drifting out to sea.

Deputy Launch Authority Justin Mawtus authorised the launch of the assembled crew. The paddle boarder was taken by the tide towards the stone jetty. No assistance in the end was required by the RNLI. The paddle boarder was met by Coastguard where advice was given on the lock down policy.

Justin Mawtus from Morecambe RNLI said “A great response from our crew who remain resilient throughout the lock down to assist when called to service. Please could those who even consider going out on The Bay remember the lock down policy and refrain from doing so at this time.”
