Lifeboat launch this weekend

August 17, 2020

On Sunday the 16th August at 5:15pm the Coastguard requested assistance from Morecambe Hovercraft. A report had been received from Heysham Harbour Authority, of persons trapped in the mud by the North Wall of the harbour.

The Hovercraft was authorised to launch commanded by Andy Wright with 3 crew. Upon arrival at scene they began a search of the area for the reported casualties. No immediate persons were found trapped. They continued to search the area to ensure they were satisfied that there was no one in danger and then returned to station. Once back at the station the hovercraft along with the assistance of the shore crew was cleaned down and prepped ready for the next shout.

One of our crew today Hannah Boyle who went out on the Hovercraft to assist with the search was hoping to be spending an anniversary weekend with her other half after they meet this date many years ago. Nothing stands in the way of our volunteers commitment to the RNLI and the lure of Hannah’s first live job. Well done Hannah you’ll have to have a double anniversary celebration next year.
