September 21, 2019

At 14:50 on Saturday 21st September 2019, Morecambe volunteer lifeboat crew responded to assist local HM Coastguard teams who were attempting to rescue a person and dog from stuck in the mud at Jenny Browns Point, Silverdale.

Both the Inshore Rescue Hovercraft and Lifeboat launched to assist the local coastguard team already on scene. On arrival the Inshore Rescue Hovercraft succeeded in assisting in freeing the person and dog from the mud and transported them to the safety of the shore.

Justin Mawtus, Volunteer Deputy Launching Authority said "Well done to all involved in today's call out, this was a very successful multi-agency rescue. We want people to enjoy the Bay but we do recommend that the public keep to designated beaches. Some areas of the bay are muddy, so can be dangerous to walk on. We urge the public to be very vigilant when walking on the shoreline of Morecambe Bay".
