January 30, 2020

Three men have been arrested and one man is in a critical condition after a stabbing in Morecambe town centre.

Police have launched a witness appeal after four men suffered stab injuries in the incident on Morecambe Street.

Three of the men are in hospital with serious injuries.

The area around Morecambe Street and Queen Street remained sealed off on Thursday evening as police continued to investigate what happened.

Officers were called to Morecambe Street at 3.20am on Thursday to reports of a disturbance on the street and found the four men suffering from stab wounds.

A 36-year-old man from Morecambe has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and is currently in custody.

Two of the men being treated at hospital have also been arrested on suspicion of the same offence. They are aged 32 and 21.

Police believe the incident is linked to an altercation at Popworld on Marine Road Central shortly before 3am on Thursday.

Detective Chief Inspector Alisa Wilson said: “We need anyone who was in the club and saw or heard anything suspicious to get in touch.

"We also know there were a number of other people, both men and women, involved in the disturbance on Queen Street and Back Queen Street who have not yet come forward to police and I urge them to do so.

"These people have key information vital to the investigation and I need them to make contact. Likewise, if you saw the disturbance itself or have any dash cam or CCTV footage, we would like to hear from you as soon as possible.

“Any information, no matter how small, could be useful to our investigation.”
