Optimistic outlook for Eden North

May 06, 2020

Eden North in Morecambe is still on track to be the area’s premier attraction according to David Harland the Chief Executive of Eden Project International.  Speaking to Beyond Radio from his home in Cornwall, David said that Eden International is still fully committed to seeing the project come to fruition in Morecambe.

“During the current situation we have been determined to continue working to bring Eden North to life. We’ve continued weekly meetings with the city and county councils, Lancaster University and our other project partners in Morecambe and those have been really encouraging and positive.”

David went on to say that now more than at any other time projects like Eden in Morecambe are needed as we come to a new understanding of the world. What is needed now are positives to focus on and he thinks the government recognise the huge positives that Eden North will bring.

The benefits the project will bring to the Morecambe area are many. It is hoped that Eden will be a catalyst in the further regeneration of Morecambe and that the potential visitor numbers will bring a boost to the local economy. The construction of the project will secure local jobs in many trades and there will be enormous educational and wellbeing benefits.

David went on to say. “As we come out of this situation my hope is that we’ll move forward as quickly as possible and the support from government will be there. We are determined to bring Eden to Morecambe. I’m looking forward to coming back and seeing my new friends in the North West.”
