Tyson Fury wins WWE wrestling debut

Tyson Fury has won his debut professional wrestling match with the WWE.

The Morecambe boxer made a successful transition to wrestling when he beat the imposing American 'Monster Among Men' Braun Strowman in Saudi Arabia by countout.

Fury, the lineal heavyweight world boxing champion, decked Strowman with a mighty right hand and he failed to beat the count outside the ring.

The 6ft 9in star survived huge punishment from his 380lb opponent including a ring-shaking power slam after the match ended.

A lifelong WWE fan, Fury made his usual spectacular entrance dressed in traditional Saudi Arabian wear.

The Morecambe man had extensive wrestling training before the bout at the WWE Performance Centre in Florida and this showed as he surprised Strowman with classic wrestling moves including a drop kick and drop toehold.

The match took place at WWE's pay-per-view Crown Jewel at the 68,000-capacity King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh.
